ROTOCON has strengthened its long-standing partnership with South African label converter Interflex through the installation of a new RFP 450 10-color flexographic press, expanding the company’s production capabilities and supporting its move into higher-value packaging applications.

The new press enables Interflex to produce labels, shrink sleeves, unsupported films, and board up to 400 gsm, while consolidating multiple processes into a single pass. The configured system integrates printing, laminating, foiling, varnishing, die-cutting, and inline sheeting, reducing the need for secondary operations.

Running at speeds of 150–200 m/min on film, the RFP 450 is aligned with Interflex’s high-volume production model. “On the RFP 450, configured the way we’ve specified it, we can print, laminate, foil, varnish and die cut in a single pass,” says Interflex CEO Eric Singh. “Our model is volume—hundreds of thousands into the millions. That’s where flexo makes sense.”

The investment marks the latest milestone in a more than 20-year partnership between the two companies, which began with ROTOCON rewinders in the mid-2000s. The relationship has evolved alongside Interflex’s growth, with ongoing support from ROTOCON’s regional team.

Looking ahead, Interflex is also expanding upstream, with plans to develop in-house design capabilities and intellectual property ownership as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its position across the value chain.

ROTOCON will showcase live demonstrations of its RFP cylinder-based flexographic press at LOUPE Americas 2026, alongside integrated finishing solutions designed to enhance productivity and automation.
