With the safety and welfare of students and educators as the top priority with regard to creating successful career opportunities and educational programs for the industry, the Phoenix College Challenge Competition has been postponed until May 2, 2020. The High School Skills Competition has been canceled for this year.
With the ever-changing situation surrounding the COVID-19 virus and this week’s increased efforts around the country, the Board of Phoenix Challenge Foundation (PCF) felt it necessary to not take any additional risk as well.
During the competition, teams will make virtual presentation to a panel of judges. For the first time, the virtual format will welcome all guests to watch the student teams, and additional information will be provided as soon as available.
With the changes made in response to everyone’s safety, the initiatives of the Phoenix Challenge Foundation continue. New educational programs are being created to provide presses for start-up flexo printing programs across North America. So far in 2020, two presses are being installed to create two new programs in South Carolina and New York.
Converters and printers across the industry all agree that workforce development and building pressroom talent are their top concerns and priorities. These programs are designed specifically to address these concerns. As a non-profit organization, support is critical. The organization needs the industry’s financial or volunteer support to continue this work. The PCF is seeking support from both converters and suppliers alike. Industry support will continue benefit these important initiatives.
