International Label & Printing Co., Inc. of Elk Grove Village, IL, USA has announced that it is the recipient of four awards for outstanding achievement in Digital Printing in the recent Great Lakes Graphics Association (GLGA) 2013 Graphics Excellence Awards (GEA) competition.
The judging was concluded on April 11, 2013 with nearly 1,000 print entries from companies in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. The GEA competition is one of the largest printing competitions in the nation.
International Label received one “Best of Category” award for a series of Pipeworks Brewing labels and also received three “Awards of Excellence” for two Pipeworks Brewery labels and one 18th Street Brewery label. The “Best of Category” winner is automatically entered into the Printing Industries of America (PIA) national Premier Print Awards competition, with the winners to be announced later this summer. The winning labels were produced using a Nilpeter FA3 Combination UV Flexo/Caslon digital press.
A panel of out-of-state judges with extensive experience in printing and print production was brought in to examine the work, according to a statement from the GLGA. Each entry was judged on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging criteria included registration, crossovers, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, finishing, bindery and overall visual impact.
“We are very proud of our entire team,” said Mark Turk, President and CEO of International Label. “To have been recognized by the Great Lakes Graphics Association is a tremendous honor and is a nice reflection of the hard work our people put into their jobs every day. I would also like to recognize and thank all our customers, particularly Pipeworks and 18th Street breweries for their faith in our company to provide quality printing, which we hope will enable them to sell more of their products. The talented designers of the labels are also to be commended for their efforts.”
The award-winning companies are honored each year at the GEA Celebration, to be held this year on June 19th at Lake Lawn Resort, Delevan, Wisconsin.
International Label & Printing, in business since 1929, caters to a wide variety of markets including food & beverage packaging, advertising specialties, industrial, and also produces an assortment of paper/film/foil pressure-sensitive labels utilizing flexographic, offset, letterpress, and digital technology.
