Clemson University will offer its Introduction to the Flexographic Process, a four-day training course, September 14-17, at its campus in Clemson, SC, USA. The course will cover flexographic and print terminology, technical preparation of flexo files, platemaking (analog and digital, solvent and thermal), plate mounting, ink mixing, anilox roller selection, proofing, and press operation.
Each participant will create a one-color job and a three-color job. Artwork is designed and technically prepared by the attendees for ganging, trapping, minimum dot, repeat length and distortion. Preparation for the press run will include selection of cylinders with appropriate stickyback. Participants will print and convert their designs on a six-color flexo press. This process is repeated for both jobs to reinforce key concepts.
The course is geared toward people involved in design and prepress, production, sales and support, in-plant training, print buying and industry supply, and advertising and marketing.
The cost is $995 per person. The program will be repeated December 8-11. Information is available from Kern Cox.
