Water Ink Technologies has officially changed its name to Actega WIT, effective early this month. The name change comes in the wake of the company’s recent acquisition by Altana, a specialty chemicals group based in Wesel, Germany. Actega WIT, based in Lincolnton, NC, USA, produces primarily water-based and UV curable inks, coatings and varnishes for narrow web applications.
The management team at Water Ink Technologies, under the leadership of Michael C. and Patrick S. Hague, continues to run the operations.
The Altana Group has four divisions: BYK Additives & Instruments, Eckart Effect Pigments, Elantas Electrical Insulation, and Actega Coatings & Sealants. Its products are used by coating manufacturers, paint and plastic processors, the printing and cosmetic industries, and the electrical and electronics industries. The product range includes additives, special coatings and adhesives, effect pigments, sealants and compounds, impregnating resins and varnishes, and testing and measuring instruments.
The group has 33 production facilities and 46 service and research laboratories worldwide. It employs 4,700 people and had sales of about €1.3 billion in 2008.
