Earlier this month, Flexographic Trade Services (FTS) expanded its Harper Scholarship Fund program by making it available to all returning US Army National Guard soldiers and their spouses, providing an opportunity to be retrained for a career in the flexographic industry. Now, FTS has named the scholarship's first beneficiary.
The first recipient of this award is Specialist Phillip Tyler Crump of the 178th Engineering Battalion who was presented his scholarship certificate by Ron & Katherine Harper & Major Corol Dobson of the South Carolina National Guard.
Phillip started his 3 month hands on press operator training program on April the 12th and is eagerly looking forward to becoming part of the industry. This scholarship is made possible by Ron & Katherine Harper and first member scholarship sponsor Specialty Packaging of West Windsor, CT, USA.
FTS is continuing to look for scholarship sponsors as hundreds of military personnel are about to return from their tours of duty.
The scholarship levels are as follows:
Platinum: $2,500 - This is for a full scholarship which earns the sponsor a certificate of appreciation, media coverage and a plaque from the National Army Guard.
Gold: $500 - Sponsors will receive a certificate of appreciation as well as media coverage.
Silver: $250 -Sponsors will receive a certificate of appreciation and media coverage.
Bronze: $100 - Sponsors will receive a certificate of appreciation and media coverage.
