British press manufacturer Edale has introduced a webfed flatbed diecutter, the FDC-510. The unit, aimed at low volume folding carton production, combines sheetfed flatbed diecutting technology with a servo-driven constant tension web transport system.
Designed for fast job change and setup, the FDC-510 creates an efficient webfed, single pass folding carton production line ideal for short run cartons, from 1,000 to 100,000 units.
Benefits include: single-pass carton production including print, diecut, breakout, delivery, and waste chopping; reduction in tooling costs up to 90 percent compared with solid rotary tooling; cutting tool changeovers in under 15 minutes; embossing capability, including Braille; and nesting of products up to five across for maximum use of raw materials.
The equipment can be retrofitted to an existing webfed press, or to an unwind stand for offline conversion of conventionally or digitally pre-printed webs.
