Sheila Hamilton, technical director at Teknek, has been granted the prestigious John Matteucci Technical Excellence Award, following her presentation at the AIMCAL (Association of International Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators) Web Coating & Handling Conference held in October 27-30 in South Carolina.
Hamilton spoke on the subject of “Substrate Cleaning in a High Vacuum Environment” and presented the results of research carried out in conjunction with the Holst Center in the Netherlands under the auspices of the European Funded program Clean4Yield.
John Matteucci, whom the award is named after, was recognized as a leader in the field of vacuum coatings. His inspiration to AIMCAL Conferences and the International Conferences on Vacuum Web Coating has led to the special award being given to the authors of the best paper in each of the Web Coating and the Vacuum Web Coating sessions of the AIMCAL Web Coating Conference. Each paper is evaluated for breadth of subject, technical content, presentation style and future impact on the technology or marketplace. Judging is done by three members selected from the conference participants with the proviso that the judges are ineligible for the awards.
"It was a great honor to receive this award as it is one of the highest accolades in the coating and converting world," Hamilton said. "Teknek has always had research and science at its core and it is fantastic to see this recognized by AIMCAL. As a result of extensive research, Teknek has recently developed a new contact cleaning system that can operate within a high vacuum environment without detriment to either the vacuum chamber operation or to the cleaning performance of the unit.”
