RotoMetrics, a manufacturer of rotary die cutting products, has announced the development and launch of a through-hardened, machine-finished solid die – the RD300 – designed for high quality, tight tolerance converting applications.
"Whether converters are cutting engineered precision parts, thick substrates, films or synthetic medical components, RotoMetrics’ RD300 provides an optimal balance of productivity, cost savings and reliability," the company says. "RD300 is an effective tool in cutting disposable medical substrates, dust-sensitive labels and tags, in-mold labels, synthetic gasket materials, Velcro, Tyvek and electronic components."
The RD300’s strength and durability comes from its superior high chromium D2 steel grade body along with a specialized heat treating process that provides a full-depth hardness of 58-60 Rockwell. Additionally, RD300 tools are completely machine finished, a process that holds the keenness of the blade through multiple re-tool processes unlike hand finished blades. The RD300’s tight tolerance of +/-.001 provides exacting cut capability and delivers high first pass yield.
