Green Bay Packaging has acquired two Wisconsin-based companies. Great Lakes Packaging of Germantown and Midland Container of Franskville were obtained from MidCon Holdings LLC, a unit of Arbor Investments in Chicago.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“MidCon is a perfect fit geographically, strategically and, most important, from a leadership and cultural approach to their business,” says Will Kress, Green Bay Packaging president and CEO.
Midland and Great Lakes Packaging are manufacturers and distributors of corrugated packaging, point-of-purchase displays and specialty packaging products. According to Beth Hrubesky, they provide products for food and beverage and industrial customers. She added that the acquired plants will remain open and function like Green Bay Packaging’s other divisions.
The two companies add 230 full-time employees to Green Bay Packaging’s national workforce of just more than 3,000 employees. The company employs a little more than 1,000 people in Brown County.
“The MidCon acquisition strengthens our point-of-purchase printing and display capabilities, broadens our reach into new markets and provides us the potential to expand our presence with current customers,” says Bryan Hollenbach, Green Bay Packaging executive vice president. “It also provides us with a dedicated workforce under great management.”
