Kelgray, a UK-based provider of mobile bar code products, has recently added its fifth Edale press, an Edale FL1. The 250mm-wide has been installed at the company's their headquarters in West Sussex.
In addition to supplying both hardware and software, Kelgray has its own label converting facilities, alongside manufacturing their own print and apply labeling machinery. The chosen FL1 specification is a 5-color press with combination drying.
The press was purchased after Kelgray personel observed demonstrations held at Edale’s purpose-built factory in Hampshire, UK. “The award winning FL1 is Edale’s compact flexographic printing press with a footprint of just 2.5m2 and a web path of less than 12m, the FL1 is ideal for companies looking for improved productivity and profitability from today’s short run lengths,” comments Chris Chappel, UK sales manager for Edale.
John Perry, production manager for Kelgray, comments; ‘With its small footprint and the advantage of being able to use most of our existing tooling, the FL1 was without doubt the right choice for us. Early signs indicate that on some jobs, running times have been reduced by more than 50%! Having been a customer of Edale for over 20 years this will be the fifth Edale machine installed at Kelgray, and alongside this purchase was an upgrade to an existing Edale E250."
