Expanding its most popular pressure sensitive adhesive offerings, Mactac Performance Adhesives Group has announced new additions to its CHILL AT and PUREapply adhesive portfolios.
“Brand managers and packaging engineers consistently turn to CHILL AT and PUREapply for high-tack secure label adhesion, long-lasting shelf appeal, and brand protection,” says Kim Hensley, senior marketing manager, Mactac Performance Adhesives. “For customers who want to boost their business in 2021 – these products are the game-changers.”
The CHILL AT and PUREapply expansion includes a selection of thinner facestock and liner solutions, which not only add more options for the sought-after adhesive offerings, but also deliver customers more labels per roll, increased production, and ensure less label waste.
New facestocks include a 2.4-mil white polypropylene film that features a rich pearlescent look and a 2.0-mil clear polypropylene film. With proprietary and robust topcoat that delivers excellent adhesion for superior graphics and print receptivity, converters gain tremendous benefits and flexibility in both high-speed printing and short-run digital printing. Labels can be printed using methods such as UV flexographic, water flexographic, and UV inkjet.
A thin 0.92-gauge polyester liner is also available. Thinner than traditional liners, the 0.92-gauge liner helps increase productivity due to less change-over and downtime. It also allows more labels per shipment and less overall freight, as well as offering more labels and footage per skid, which increases available warehouse space.
Label applications for the new CHILL AT and PUREapply solutions include beverage, cosmetics, toiletries, household goods, and food packaging labeling.
CHILL AT labels are custom-engineered with the latest advancements in hot-melt adhesive technology. Although formulated for demanding cold temperature applications, CHILL AT also delivers exceptional adhesion at room temperature. It has an extremely versatile temperate range spanning -65 to +150 degrees Fahrenheit. CHILL AT is typically used in refrigerated and frozen foods, meat and poultry, cheese, and corrugate labeling and performs exceptionally well on low-surface energy substrates.
Mactac’s PUREapply adhesive forms a strong bond when applied yet offers initial adhesive open time for clean removability, if necessary. For example, if a label isn’t straight or centered when first applied, it can be initially and cleanly removed and repositioned. It will then build to high-tack secure adhesion for long-lasting shelf appeal. PUREapply was designed for semi-rigid or rigid plastic container substrates and is often used in beverage, cosmetics, toiletries, household goods, and food packaging labeling. It is also suitable for cold, damp labeling applications.
