Dunn Paper, a manufacturer and supplier of high performance, advanced paper and tissue for use in food, medical, and specialty markets, has announced that it will cease production at its site in Port Huron, MI, USA.
Since 1924, the Port Huron mill has been supplying specialty paper to the food and medical industries and has been an integral employer for the area.
"The decision to close Port Huron was not an easy one. This difficult decision is the result of ongoing challenges to generate positive cash flow in the face of adverse economic factors. Dunn Paper will continue to produce high-quality Machine Glazed products at its Menominee, MI and Wiggins, MS sites, including waxed products and our BiOrigin line. We are working with the employees at Port Huron to make this transition as seamless as possible," states Wade Kemnitz, president and CEO, Dunn Paper.
Meanwhile, Resource Label Group, a full-service provider of pressure sensitive labels, shrink sleeve and RFID/NFC technology, has announced the acquisition of MedLit Solutions, which specializes in pharmaceutical packaging and printing solutions.
With two locations, in Garner, NC and Winston, NJ, MedLit offers end-to-end solutions for the pharmaceutical, biotech, and healthcare industries. The addition of MedLit Solutions represents the 25th acquisition for Resource Label.
Kevin Grogan, CEO of MedLit Solutions, states, “As an industry leader, our priority is to provide customers the highest quality, innovative solutions to meet their challenging packaging requirements. The partnership with Resource Label Group will expand our capabilities and improve the buying experience we provide to our customers. We are very excited about the opportunity ahead of us.”
