Markem-Imaje has received the BRC Global Standard (BRCGS) Grade A Packaging Materials Certification. The certification has been successfully obtained by MI’s manufacturing site for Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) inks in Bourg-Lès-Valence in France.
The certification confirms that MI meets the leading standards for manufacturing practice set out by the BRCGS and follows a rigorous assessment by a third-party certification body. The certification is a globally recognized benchmark designed to reassure consumers that products are safe, legally compliant, and of high quality. Recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), it both helps and enables food producers worldwide to safely build consumer and partner trust throughout the entire supply chain.
Mark Rapposelli, VP product development and engineering at MI says, “The BRC standard is one of most ambitious certifications applicable to the production process for marking and coding inks and our goal now is to implement this at all our ink manufacturing sites. We are very proud of this certification which is a recognition of the hard work and commitment of our Bourg-Lès-Valence team. We will continue with our Drop-on-Demand inks that are manufactured in Keene, US."
Meanwhile, through a partnership between Multi-Color Corportation (MCC), Extrupet and Coca-Cola, there is now a certified shrink sleeve solution available to the South African market – RecycLABEL Shrink Sleeves.
RecycLABEL floatable is a Polyolefin film shrink sleeve label that easily separates at the container grinding stage. The separation allows for easier recycling using a wet recycling process. The floatable label rises to the surface while the PET sinks, allowing clean PET to be recycled.
Cliffy Muthusamy, sales manager at MCC Africa, explains, "To support Coca-Cola’s World Without Waste vision of having 100% of their packaging recyclable by 2025, MCC South Africa has partnered with local bottler, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, to help bring the vision one step closer to realization. Being the incumbent supplier of shrink sleeves to CCBA, MCC’s RecycLabel solution for shrink sleeves was the obvious choice when the bottler sought out a sustainable solution which is not only suitable for their application process but is also well suited for the local PET recycling stream.
