Brook + Whittle is celebrating another step in its digital transformation with a new HP Indigo V12 digital press. After an initial beta phase, the HP Indigo V12 has become an essential press in Brook + Whittle’s fleet, enabling the label printer to deliver on the growing demands by its customers for faster lead times and more agile supply.
Determined to bring digital agility to every job, Brook + Whittle converted their previous, conventional-first rationale into a digital-first mindset, utilizing 11 HP Indigo V12, 6K, 8K, and 25K presses. This fleet allows the company to designate each job to the best fit HP Indigo press, for lower TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and optimized OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency). The V12 and 8K digital presses focus on mid and long runs, the 6K digital press takes the high versatility short runs, and the HP Indigo 25K digital press churns out the larger label and shrink sleeve jobs.
With the new V12 press completing their digital fleet, Brook + Whittle have increased their efficiency with short turnaround times and enhanced their offering with digital solutions such as variable data printing for any job size. The company’s productivity has increased with the ability of the V12 to process 6 colors at up to 400 ft (120 m) a minute.
Jeremy Letterman, chief operating officer at Brook + Whittle, comments, “Equipped with the HP Indigo V12 in our digital value chain we’ve been able to convert whole product lines from flexo to digital. This allows us to deliver exactly what customers want, when they want it – that’s the power of HP Indigo technology.
Plus, The specialty chemicals group ALTANA has entered into an agreement to acquire the Silberline Group. The US-based company specializes in developing and manufacturing effect pigments utilized in various applications, ranging from automotive coatings and printing inks to plastics, protective coatings, and packaged consumer goods.
“The acquisition is further proof that we are sustainably implementing our strategy of generating value-creating growth through targeted acquisitions,” says Martin Babilas, CEO ALTANA AG. With the move, ALTANA is strategically expanding its ECKART division and strengthening its regional presence, particularly in North America and Asia.
“The local research and production capacities of Silberline and ECKART complement each other perfectly. The merger will enhance our ability to respond flexibly to regional customer needs and further optimize our service quality,” explains Dr. Christian Przybyla, President of ECKART.
