The industry's biggest names in flexo printing showcased the benefits of combining conventional and digital technologies.
The eight-color capability of the UV inkjet printing system extends the color gamut without having to switch to spot colors. With its high native resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi, the Gallus DCS 340 is particularly impressive when it comes to small characters, fine lines and gradients down to zero percent.
From reel to high-finish diecut label, everything is done inline. The integrated Prinect software from Heidelberg makes it easy for operators to transfer data from any standard MIS system.
The new Digital Series is designed to run high-quality jobs at speeds of 250 fpm/76 mpm. "This hybrid system architecture delivers the best total cost of operation of any digital solution available on the market," the company says.
The Digital Series has been engineered to be highly configurable featuring high resolution 6-color UV inkjet printing (C, M, Y, K, O, V + White) with top-coating, fully integrated inline flexographic printing modules including metallics, various converting options, cold foil and more.
Graphium is the result of a partnership between Fujifilm, FFEI, Xaar and Edale. "With runs of 3-4000 meters being viable, a label converter can cover the majority of its jobs with a single hybrid press, rather than investing in a standalone digital inkjet press that will only cover the low run work," said Andy Cook, FFEI's managing director.
The 17 inch XFlex X6 Digital (430mm) with JetPlus, a 4-color digital inkjet unit. "JetPlus is the perfect choice when variable data, short runs or sampling are involved," Omet says. "Through XFlex X6 Digital you can print any digital file with no need for pre-press and with the guarantee of high quality results."
The EF SYMJET is a symbiotic combination of a flexo press with the standard MPS EF platform and an integrated Domino digital N610i inkjet printer. The Domino digital unit uses Kyocera print heads to print a resolution of 600x600 dpi, with up to six colors and opaque white.
The Panorama's DP-3 print engine delivers consistent color output using single-pass 600 dpi piezo printheads with 4-level greyscale imaging. A minimum droplet size of 3 picoliters allows small-dot halftones for true flesh tones and fine vignettes.
