Italian press manufacturer Omet recently hosted an Open House at its Lecco, Italy headquarters. The company hosted customers from every continent – including from more than 150 companies – and ran live demonstrations on its entire range of modular, multi-process printing presses. Many visiting customers also took advantage of a trip to a nearby customer who owns an XFlex X6 combination flexo/digital inkjet press.
Omet reports that during the Open House, three companies signed contracts for as many hybrid flexo/offset XFlex X6 and full flexo XFlex X4 presses.
Omet featured two recent innovations worthy of note: the double unwinder on XFlex X4, which is available across the range, and the flat-bed hot foil and embossing integrated in-line on the XFlex X6 offset with three UV flexo units, five offset sleeve groups, cold foil on rail, rotary diecutting and the ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll’ matrix rewinder.
The double unwinder is a semi-automatic unwinding system that was designed for ultra-fast changing of the printing substrate. “It saves several minutes in the changeover process and increases the productivity and profitability of the machine with any type of run,” the company says.
During the Open House event, Omet also demonstrated its JetPlus digital inkjet unit. The company recently concluded the test phase on the first machine, which it has been conducting for a few months at a label converter located near Lecco. Because the test phase has been concluded, there is now the possibility to order the JetPlus as early as this year’s Labelexpo Americas in September.
