RotoMetrics has announced the acquisition of MLC, Brazil’s leading supplier of rotary and flexible dies to the country’s label printing market. MLC, based in Sao Paolo, has 70 employees.
The move expands RotoMetrics’ global footprint while establishing a South American manufacturing base to meet the demands of the converting industry worldwide. MLC was established in 1992 and is Brazil’s leading provider of precision rotary tooling for the narrow web converting industry. Manoel Correa, founder, and Robson Lopes Paula, the son of founder Jose Vicentino de Paula, will continue to lead the company they built into its market-leading position, supported by their strong management team.
“MLC offers the opportunity for RotoMetrics to better serve Latin American customers from a strong operating platform strategically located in the region,” comments Robert Spiller, president and CEO of RotoMetrics. “We are thrilled that MLC has joined the RotoMetrics family. Combining their deep experience and expertise with our customer-focused investments in technology and product development should deliver proven reliability, mission critical speed, innovation that matters to converters in Brazil and throughout Latin America.”
Spiller adds that MLC and RotoMetrics share similar histories, which is partly what makes the acquisition such a good fit for both companies. “We have the same DNA,” Spiller says. “It’s like two brothers coming together, and we look forward to building on the strong technology foundation Manoel and his team have established.”
Adds Manoel Correa, “We look forward to combining our strong manufacturing foundation with RotoMetrics’ leading technology to enhance our offerings in both the label industry and precision converting applications. Converters will see an expanded portfolio of products produced in Sao Paulo in the coming months.”
