The first encyclopedia for and about the label industry was introduced at Labelexpo Americas 2004 in Chicago. The title is The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Labels and Label Technology, and the author is Michael Fairley, a well known label industry authority and founder of Labels & Labeling magazine.
The 240-page book, the result of five years of work by Fairley, covers all major label technologies and all main label printing processes, as well as guidelines on global label legislation for food, drugs, cosmetics aerosol, chemicals and clothing. Information on organizations such as ISO, FDA, BSI and related standards authorities is included, as are details on national and international associations.
