As Siegwerk Canada and USA (CUSA) plan for the future, further expansion is required in order to allow for forecasted growth, the company has announced. Towards this end, Siegwerk CUSA has begun construction on a new Center for Printing Excellence to house Siegwerk’s pilot press.
Groundbreaking began August, and the Center for Printing Excellence is projected to be finished and operational by the end of 2012 and will be housed at Siegwerk’s Des Moines, IA, USA, facility (CUSA headquarters). It will house a pilot press with capabilities to print five-color gravure or four-color flexo for use with solvent-based or water-based technology. There will also be space to add extrusion lamination capabilities, which is projected to be completed in 2013.
The new facility will be staffed by members of Siegwerk’s Account Service team. All employees have years of experience in the ink and printing industries, the company says, and will provide valuable experience, knowledge and troubleshooting abilities to both internal and external customers.
Siegwerk’s international family business of 4,400 employees generated revenues of 969 million euros in 2011. The company’s global headquarters is in Siegburg, Germany, near Cologne.
