Screen has announced that its flagship device, the Truepress Jet520HD high-definition inkjet web press, has achieved a significant 100-unit benchmark.
“When we introduced the 520HD press a little over two years ago, the market was surprised by its offset-like image quality,” Ken Ingram, president, Screen Americas states. “That was the first time high-speed inkjet demonstrated the capability for effectively printing jobs that previously were the domain of only toner or offset. With Screen’s achievement of its 100th Truepress Jet520HD shipped, we have reached a key measure of its market potential, which should only grow thanks to our dedicated, ongoing product development.”
Truepress Jet520HD press users can maximize the excellent quality already available on each press by using Screen’s exclusive SC wide gamut inks, enabling it to print on a wide range of paper stocks, including standard offset coated stocks, without the need for pre-treatment.
Geoff Eisenberg, executive vice president, Tidewater Direct near Baltimore, MD, is a believer. “The Truepress 520 HD and SC ink technology allows us to print on commodity stocks we already use, bypassing the need for pretreated inkjet stocks. That’s a tremendous advantage in paper savings, making it cost effective for us.”
Another differentiating advantage of the Truepress Jet520HD is its advanced printhead technology. The press is able to place 2-picoliter droplets — the world’s smallest — with precision. Combined with the maximum true resolution of 1,200 dpi, the Truepress Jet520HD clearly images detail smaller than 0.10 of a point. The result is a sharp, eye-catching finish with no ink spread. “You need the Screen 520HD’s efficiencies to be competitive and meet the challenges of today's market," says Kathy Pescetti, owner of Admail West in Sacramento, a full-service marketing firm.
"Print quality and substrate versatility were key elements in our decision to purchase the Truepress Jet520HD," IWCO Direct’s CEO, Jim Andersen, says. IWCO Direct is a data-driven marketing services company with seven production sites in four locations across the United States. Screen’s Ingram acknowledges IWCO Direct’s purchase of Screen’s flagship inkjet press is testimony to how its technology meets the needs of high-end providers of direct mail.
Also, among the 100 adopters of Screen Truepress 520HD technology is Epsilon, an interactive information management giant whose St. Louis area production facility boasts two of the versatile inkjet marvels and was the first US company to install the 520HD. Nate Milliken, managing director explains, “The Screen 520HD allows us to take a 1.2 million piece self-mailer program, which starts printing on Thursday, and we can actually mail it on Monday. It’s absolutely amazing compared to the turnaround time of our digital toner platform, which previously would have taken 7-10 days to complete.”
Adding to the excitement and potential the Truepress Jet 520 HD is generating is the recently announced Screen NIR Dryer technology that works in conjunction with both the Truepress Jet520HD+ and the SC inks. The NIR Dryer features newly enhanced drying functions, improving drying performance for both lightweight and heavier weight coated offset stocks. Print service providers are able to access an extended range of applications while offering more productivity for difficult-to-dry substrates with increased print speeds on offset coated stocks.
The Truepress Jet520HD+ with SC inks will be showcased at Hunkeler Innovation Days 2019 in Lucerne, Switzerland, from February 25-28. Originally launched there in 2017 to wide acclaim, Screen’s production inkjet technology was honored shortly after with an InterTech Technology Award presented by Printing Industries of America.
