As the label and printing industries explore new ways to generate enhanced participation, an FTA subcommittee has gone to great lengths to address the workforce. Women of Flexo (WoF) has worked diligently to promote the hiring and advancement of women in the flexographic printing industry.
WoF has ramped up its efforts to continue group growth, which is highlighted by the upcoming Women of Flexo Conference. The second annual event will take place March 13-14, 2024, in Miami, FL, USA. For highlights of last year's event, click here.
The group, which is helmed by chair Emily Kalshoven of MacDermid Graphics Solutions and co-chair Kara Wojnowski of BiOrigin Specialty Products, strives to see increased participation in a wide range of role, from the pressroom and prepress department to roles in sales and management, as well as other positions.
“At the 2024 Women of Flexo Conference, attendees can anticipate an engaging experience designed specifically for professionals in the flexography field,” says Wojnowski. “The conference will offer access to valuable resources alongside networking opportunities with peers, mentors, and industry leaders. Participants will gain insights into strategies for overcoming common challenges women face, learn from sessions led by industry professionals, and enjoy a friendly and welcoming atmosphere perfect for fostering professional growth and personal connections. This event promises not only to educate and empower but to provide a memorable experience through a mix of educational sessions and social events, ensuring attendees have a great time while advancing their careers.”
Plus, AAi Labels & Decals boasts more than 50 years of growth and adaption, all in the name of delivering better customer service. Stacy and Gary Gestring arrived in 1995 with one goal in mind: accelerate growth. Since that time, the company has expanded to nearly 29,000 square feet across two facilities. What once was a company of four people is now home to 45 employees, and services customers across the country – and throughout the world.
Since the arrival of Gary and Stacy Gestring, growth has been robust. Their arrival saw AAi quadruple its space, which includes a 10,000 square-foot building to house a wide-format division. Since 2000, the company has predominately enjoyed double-digit growth. The Gestrings have been intent on continuing a legacy that began more than 50 years ago.
